while listening to Oh,Sleeper I (for some reason unknown to even myself) started thinking back on Nostalgia Critic’s review of Les Misrables and something he said just stuck with me, and was one of the reasons i stopped watching him for a while (that and he got really really unfunny and pretentious) anyway, he said something along the lines of Russel Crowe being bad because he’s a rock vocalist (debatable right there) however, that brings me to this : The fact that Russel Crowe is a rock singer isn’t the reason he sucks..it’s because he’s a terrible singer. The way you put it you make it sound like just because someone is a rock vocalist they arn’t good. Where do /you/ get off? some of the most emotive, passionate singers are rock singers. I’m sure if it was someone like Devin Townsend, Ihshain, Mike Smesky or Howard Jones they would have made everyone else look bad in comparison, and don’t even get me STARTED on Mike Patton

okay, maybe i’m exaggerating, however the point still stands. Don’t go around saying that just because someone is a rock vocalist/singer they arn’t good, because that’s simply not the case.

and for Audio reference to the guys listed above, watch the videos below!

Devin Townsend (C2 to Bb6) - 4 octaves, 5-1/2 notes

Ihshain

Mike Smesky

Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage) (E2 to E5) - 3 octaves

Mike Patton (Eb1 to E7) - 6 octaves, 1/2 note

And for fun Devin Townsend without instruments = Grown up Disney villain theme

little more on Devin Townsend: he alread has a few straight up musicals One Titled Ziltoid the Omnicent (it’s a good way to get into him if you’ve never heard him, it also has a sequel coming up!) and Deconstruction (maybe one of his heaviest records to date) and in actuality all of his music is connected either in themes, lyrics, musical phrases…

and Mike Patton is the man of 1000 voices with one of the largest vocal ranges in entertainment right now
aside from his main stuff with Mr. Bungle (shown above) he also has Tomahawk, Faith no More and he did some session vocals for (the almighty) Dillinger Escape plan. He’s one of my favorite vocalists.

plaidandredlipstick:

the reason male comic book fans work themselves into a frenzied rage over “fake geek girls" is because they think they can’t get a girlfriend because of their love for comic books (a.k.a nerdiness). if they accept that geek girls genuinely love comic books, then they’re left with the cold harsh reality that it’s not their nerdiness that makes them unattractive to women, but the fact that they are misogynistic condescending dickbags who need to be avoided AT ALL COSTS

preach!
